Midsummer Celebrations in Stockholm

Midsummer in Stockholm is an experience beyond the ordinary. As the city transforms into a summer dream and the pace slows down, an idyllic backdrop is created for one of our most beloved traditions. With Hotel Diplomat as your starting point, you have the privilege of experiencing both the convenience of the city and the proximity of the archipelago in perfect harmony. At Villa Dagmar, our restaurants and bars will remain open as usual throughout the entire Midsummer weekend.

MIDSUMMER AT SKANSEN

Experience a classic Midsummer celebration where traditions come alive in their most atmospheric form. Join in as the flower-adorned maypole is raised to the tunes of live folk music, and be inspired by authentic Swedish musicianship and colorful folk dance performances at Sollidenplan. For a complete Midsummer feeling, there is also the opportunity to learn the art of binding your own wreath from the wild flowers of summer.

AN ARCHIPELAGO MIDSUMMER

For those who want to feel the sea breeze without leaving the city, boats depart for Sandhamn’s Midsummer celebration from Adolfs torg at 3 PM, featuring traditional games and dancing for both adults and children. Alternatively, visit Fjäderholmarna – here, a genuine archipelago Midsummer is celebrated with maypole raising on the island and classic lunches by the water. In just 30 minutes, you can swap the city pulse for rocky shores and archipelago restaurants.

VINTERVIKEN

Celebrate in the lush greenery of Vintervikens Trädgård just outside the city center. A traditional Midsummer celebration takes place here with dancing around the maypole and Midsummer food in the café.
